When ABC News announced that Elizabeth Vargas was retiring from the network after 22 years, they didn't exactly tell the whole story. 

Sources tell FTVLive that Vargas was pushed into retirement as part of Disney's cost-cutting moves. 

FTVLive has also learned FIRST and EXCLUSIVELY that ABC plans on moving Amy Robach into Vargas's primetime slot in the Spring. 

Vargas will sign off from 20/20 in May and that is when the network will name Robach as her replacement.
