We Told You....
Back in August of 2016, FTVLive shared with you a story done by KNXV (Phoenix) Reporter Dave Biscobing about a group that is basically extorting local Phoenix businesses.
We said that the story was well done and informative.
Basically, we said this is the type of stories that local news people should be doing.
Well, guess what?
Biscobing's story won DuPont award.
A DuPont award, unlike an Emmy is actually a real honor and Biscobing's award was one of only 5 awards given to local television news stations (compare that to the thousands giving out by the Emmys).
FTVLive knew the story was a good one, we showcased it as an example of how to do a good news story and it appears that the DuPont awards agree.
“‘Cash for Compliance’ helped our viewers understand how an organization thinly veiled itself as a charity to sue local businesses for ADA non-compliance issues, costing these businesses millions of dollars,” said Anita Helt, vice president and general manager of KNXV. “The series is a powerful example of journalism’s role as a watchdog in our communities, bringing important issues to light.”
It also shows that FTVLive knows what a good news story is.
