Anchoring in Your Hometown

It is a dream for many TV news people to go back and work on the news in their hometown.

Mike Hydeck is leaving that dream.

Hydeck is the new Anchor at WVIT in Connecticut, which is where he grew up.

Hydeck attended Masuk High School in Monroe and the University of Connecticut.

Now he's doing the 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. weekday newscasts, working alongside co-anchor Keisha Grant at WVIT.

He takes over the anchor chair from veteran newsman Gerry Brooks, who is cutting back his schedule to just the 6 p.m. weekday newscast at WVIT.
