Getting Out of the Business
WXMI (Grand Rapids) Sports Anchor/Reporter Evan Beach says he's putting TV news in the rearview mirror.
Beach, who has been at the station for just over two years, is leaving the business for a position in real estate.
"It's something that I've been thinking about for a while," said the 32-year-old Beach. "When I took the job it was with the intention of either hopefully moving up or getting out and getting into something else that would allow me to stay in Grand Rapids."
His last day is Friday.
Beach, a 10-year veteran of the business who came to the station from WNEM TV 5 in Saginaw, is leaving to become a real estate agent with Villegas Group in Grand Rapids.
He will take his real estate exam next Monday.
Beach said working second shift became taxing.
"It just gets a whole lot tougher after you get married and more things become a part of it," he said. "We bought a house here (in Grand Rapids) and real estate is something that I'm interested in."
