Bumped Up in Des Moines
I always thought, if you worked in Des Moines and got promoted, it meant you were getting the hell out of Des Moines.
But, that is not always the case.
Jannay Towne, a longtime weekend morning Anchor at WHO, is moving to the night shift.
Towne will be taking over as anchor of the 9 p.m. newscast for KDSM, the Fox affiliate which WHO has a shared service agreement to produce a newscast.
Towne has been an anchor on “Today in Iowa Saturday & Sunday” for about four years, is filling the position vacated by Lynn Melling.
“I am really excited for the new challenge,” Towne said. “I am excited to work with different people and to work with a different sense of news. There is a difference between weekday nights and weekend mornings and I would say I am a news lover, so I am excited to anchor a news-heavy broadcast.”
“I think the first thing I said was, ‘Oh, my gosh, I am so excited to have weekends off,’” she said. “There are no good hours in news, but at least having the normal Saturday and Sunday weekend will be welcome.”
Jodi Whitworth will be replacing Towne as anchor of the weekend edition of "Today in Iowa."
