Chief Met is Bounced in Tampa
Sources tell FTVLive that Van Fleet was escorted from the building by News Director Bob Clinckingbeard and a staffer from HR.
So far, no suits at the Tegna station are talking, but one newsroom source tells FTVLive, "this goes back to a plan that Elliott (Wiser) and Clink (Bob Clinckingbeard) had to to get Jim fired."
Wiser has since resigned from the station.
This is the second time that Clinckingbeard and Van Fleet have gone around together. Clinckingbeard was Van Fleet's News Director when the two worked in Orlando.
"Clink has had it out for Jim for quite sometime," said one newsroom source. The source also says that Van Fleet has retained Tampa Attorney Sandy Solomon.
FTVLive reached out to Van Fleet for comment, he did not want to talk about what happened, but did confirm he has hired a lawyer.
"I'm not bitter and don't want to go down the legal road if I don't have to. I would rather, very much appreciate an apology from Tegna and WTSP," Van Fleet told FTVLive.
Stay tuned....
