Back to Steubenville
Talk about a slide down in TV markets.....
Bill Phillips has worked the past 15 years at WPXI in Pittsburgh. He moved to the Burgh from WTOV in Steubenville, where he was sports director.
Now, he's going back to the tiny market.
Phillips is leaving his Weekend Sports Anchor gig in market 23 and heading back to market 153 to Anchor WTOV's morning and noon newscasts.
When he took the job in Pittsburgh in 1991, Phillips and his family remained in Steubenville, where they have been very active in the community and he is thrilled to be returning.
“WTOV was a fantastic place to work, and I am excited to return in a new role to work at what I feel is a great television station,” Phillips said.
“Bill was one of the cornerstones in NEWS9 becoming the dominant news station in the Ohio Valley,” WTOV GM Tim McCoy said. “His great work ethic, enthusiasm and passion have set him apart. He is one of the most professional people I have ever had the pleasure of working with and can’t wait for his return to the station.”
He starts his new gig in Steubenville a week from today.
