Charges Against Arrested Anchor Stand
FTVLive told you earlier this week that former WAGA Anchor Amanda Davis was arrested for driving with a suspended license.
Davis has been hired by struggling WGCL in Atlanta to be their new morning Anchor starting next year.
WGCL GM Mark Pimentel then came out and said that it was a mixup and Davis' license was valid and it was just a mistake.
But, the cops say the charges against the Anchor still stand, despite what her new GM says.
The Marietta Daily Journal writes that Cobb Police spokesman Sgt. Dana Pierce, who provided details on Davis’ arrest to the MDJ on Wednesday, said Thursday the arrest occurred based on Davis’ license being reported to the officer as suspended.
“We do what we do based on the computer,” he said.
Released Tuesday night on a $1,320 cash bond, Davis, a resident of Smyrna, faces a charge of driving with a suspended license, according to jail records.
As of Thursday afternoon, the charge against Davis remained.
“Based on our preliminary investigation, the Cobb County Solicitor General’s Office has determined the status of Ms. Davis’ driver’s license on Dec. 13 indicates there was probable cause for the police officer to arrest her on a charge of driving on a suspended driver’s license,” said Steven A. Ellis, assistant solicitor general and public affairs liaison for the Cobb County Solicitor General’s Office. “Once our office receives the case it will proceed to an arraignment calendar in Cobb State Court and our office will handle it in a manner consistent with all other suspended driver’s license cases we prosecute.”
Huh...I guess TV GM's are not above the law after all.
Who knew?
