The Revolving Atlanta Anchor Chairs
With Brenda Wood announcing her retirement in September, and her final newscast on February 7, 2017, WXIA management has announced that morning anchor Shiba Russell will move to the evening shift, alongside Jeff Hullinger, Melissa Long, and Chris Holcomb. Cheryl Preheim, a veteran anchor/reporter at TEGNA sister station KUSA will be new morning anchor, joining Vinnie Politan, Jaye Watson, Chesley McNeil, and Chris "Crash" Clark.
Anyone keeping score on Atlanta TV personnel changes. So far, WSB has hired departing WISH anchorwoman Lori Wilson to anchor weekend evening news in January. Wilson is no stranger to Atlanta TV, as she used to anchor newscasts on WGCL (2002-2005), first as morning anchor, then as weekend anchor, before her 7-year stint at WCAU, and present day job at WISH.
Over at WAGA, it's been 6 months since Lisa Rayam departed. Good Day Atlanta vacancies have since been filled. Hopefully the WAGA and Fox management is getting close to making a decision, and putting the Stephany Fisher rumors to rest.
