Last night WHBQ in Memphis debuted a new 6 PM Newscast. 

The Cox station added the 6:00 newscast anchored by Mearl Purvis, Darrell Greene and Chief Meteorologist Joey Sulipeck last night, making it the only Memphis station broadcasting Local News from 5pm through 6:30pm.

Two years ago, Cox took control of the station as part of the trade with Fox. Fox traded their Boston station for Cox's San Francisco affiliate. WHBQ was thrown in as part of the deal.
