Top Manager Bounced at Sinclair
Back in August, FTVLive reported FIRST and EXCLUSIVELY about the huge FCC fines that Sinclair is faced with.
The Sinclair station were running pay for play stories from the Huntsman Cancer Institute out of Salt Lake City. Problem was, the stations were not letting viewers know that the "news" they were watching was actually a paid for commercial for the Institute.
Sources tell FTVLive that the FCC fines could be in the millions of dollars.
Sinclair CEO David Smith "went nuts" at a meeting with News Directors, saying how much this is going to cost the company.
In early October, FTVLive told you FIRST and EXCLUSIVELY that the Sinclair stations are spending 5 weeks straight apologizing to viewers in the newscasts about the pay for play snafu. It seems that Sinclair is hoping that over a month of saying their sorry, will get the FCC to go easy on them.
While many were pointing fingers inside Sinclair as to who was responsible for this mess, most pointed at Sinclair's Western Regional News Director, Jennifer Dahl.
It was Dahl that wrote the memo about the 5 week long apology. Dahl was considered Sinclair's "golden girl" for years.
But.....now sources tell FTVLive that Dahl has been fired. The shine on the golden girl is no more and it seems it was the pay for play for Huntsman that got her booted.
Again, it appears that Sinclair is offering up Dahl's head on a stick to the FCC. We'll see if her head and the long apology will have any sway on the FCC as they hand down the fines.
Stay tuned....
