What's Up with You Dude? Vol. 6

Time to click on the email tab, open up and clean out some of the emails clogging up my inbox.

It's a segment we like to call "What's Up with You Dude?"

Email 1 - I love FTVLive and I have to say, I love the fact that I can't tell where you stand. One day I think you're a big fan of Fox News, the next day you slam them. I have seen the same thing with MSNBC and all the other networks. Keep up the great work.

Scott: I get emails like this a lot and I pride myself on the fact that where I stand politically, or which network is my favorite is hard to figure out. I really do try my best to be.....dare I say it..... Fair and Balanced.

My 6 Day, 3 Day Project...

My 6 Day, 3 Day Project...

After living in the FTVLive World Headquarters for 6 years, i felt it was time to pull up the carpets and put down some new flooring.

I decided I would put down the flooring in my office, living room, den, kitchen and laundry room. I would do the work myself and I figured it would take me about 3 days.

I started on Thursday, just in case my weekend project took a bit more time than a thought. Here it is, Tuesday and I'm still not done (although I'm close).

10 hours a day for 5 days of getting down on the floor and standing back up, my legs feel like I have done 50,000 squats. Ouch!

But then my day went from bad to worse. See why after the jump.

Be Like Mike....

Be Like Mike....

People often ask me in all the years I have worked in TV news, who is the best person I ever worked with.?

I have said before that the first person that pops into my head is Robin Meade. Robin is the morning Anchor at HLN and she and I worked together years ago in Miami.

Robin was great on air, professional off air and just one of the nicest people that I ever met.

But, after thinking more about it, I think Robin might have to move down to the second spot on my list of best people I have ever worked with.

Sorry Robin.

I think the best person goes to a Sports Producer that I worked with waaaaaay back when in West Palm Beach.

Find out about this great person after the jump.

"H" is For a Hell of a Good Story

"H" is For a Hell of a Good Story

Watching the tornado coverage yesterday, brought me back to my first full time job in TV News.

I was a News Photographer at KTUL in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

I covered more than my share of tornados and every time it was amazing to see just how powerful those twisters can be.

Of all the different video I shot over the years, there is still one shot I can remember to this day.

A tornado had touched down in Broken Arrow, OK. and Reporter Gene Young and I were sent out to cover the aftermath the next morning.

A number of houses and business were wiped out (nothing compared to what happened in Moore Yesterday) and we were driving to find the worst damage.

What's Up with you Dude? Vol. 5

It is time to open up the email, clear out the spam and answer a few more questions in a segment we like to call "What's Up with You Dude?"

Email 1: I was promoted from a Reporter job at my station to Weekend morning anchor, why didn't you report it?

Scott: If FTVLive reported every job move.... that is basically all the site would be. There are a some websites out there that cover job moves such as these, but I really don't want gum up FTVLive with all the moves. We do report some of the bigger moves and ones that happen in bigger markets. But, let's be honest if you moved from Reporter to Weekend morning Anchor in the 84th market, no one really cares. Except your Mom.... and she's very proud of you.

Email 2: I have sent out 35 resumes and have been rejected by every News Director. Can you help me?

This Will Make you Smile

This Will Make you Smile

With the Boston Bombings, a fertilizer plant explosion, the gun debate and Chicago being washed away by floods....it has been a very busy but also very depressing week of news.

If you want to take 38 seconds out of your day, I promise this will put a smile on your face.

And to be honest, the way this week has gone, a quick smile might feel pretty good right now.

Why I'm not Going to the WH Correspondents Dinner

Why I'm not Going to the WH Correspondents Dinner

got a call yesterday that some people dream about getting.

I was invited to the White House Correspondents Dinner later this month.

I said "No Thank You."

Anyone that has read FTVLive over the years has known how I feel about the WH Correspondents Dinner. It used to be great.... when you know it was for correspondents.

But as I have written, it has become about which organization can bring the biggest celebrities.

What's Up with you Dude? Vol. 4

Let's open up the old email box, clean out some spam and answer some of your questions in another installment of "What's up with you Dude?"

Email 1 - Did you work with Robin Meade? I ran into her once and she said you and her worked together at some point.

Scott- Being the media whore that I was (I'm a recovering media whore now), I have worked at a lot of stations and have had the pleasure of working with a number of people who have had their careers move on to bigger and better (while my career continued the downward spiral till I ended up at the bottom, doing this website). Here are just a few of the people I worked with and my short take about them.

Yes the BriWi Story was an April Fools Joke

Yes the BriWi Story was an April Fools Joke

FTVLive's story this morning that NBC Anchor Brian Williams was going to co-host the Today Show and anchor NBC Nightly News for the May book was our entry into the April Fools joke pool.

We thought that it was fairly clear after the first paragraph or so that it was a joke.

I mean, dropping Lauer off in the middle of Afghanistan with no crew or no money isn't something NBC would do.

Wait....maybe it is.

OK..... theAl Roker hiding Twinkie's and HoHo's is totally believable, but Hoda and Kathie Lee hiding the hard liquor in a cubby in Studio 1A? Everyone knows that the booze is locked up in their dressing room.
