Why I Should Be Running NBC

Last night I was drinking Redbull and eating cookies and I had a vision.

I sent it out on Twitter last night and I think I have solved two of NBC's problems.

We know NBC wants to dump Jay Leno and replace him with Jimmy Fallon. But, NBC doesn't want to look like the bad guy like they did with the Conan mess.​

We also know that Matt Lauer is about as well liked as Piers Morgan at an NRA convention. NBC needs some new blood in the morning. ​

So, move Leno to the Today Show in place of Lauer.

There you go! ​

​I'm telling you, I should be running NBC. It can't really get any worse can it?

6 Weeks in and it's Looking Good

6 Weeks in and it's Looking Good

On February 4th, FTVLive packed as much explosives as we could and hit the switch.  We blew up the paywall that was surrounding this website, making it free to everyone.

6 weeks later, it looks like we made the right decision in going free.​

Some interesting ​stats in the first 6 weeks. Below is a screen shot from Thursday of last week. The chat shows how long visitors are staying on FTVLive. The less than 5 second people are folks that are loading the page to see if anything has changed since the last time they visited. The part we found interesting is that over 20% of the visitors on that day stayed on FTVLive for more than 20 minutes in a single visit. Over 15% were on the site for over an hour!

​The other day a website wrote a story about me and they said "Blogger Scott Jones...."​

Huh?! What?! I'm a Blogger?!​

Really?

After working 20+ years in TV News, I always just thought of myself as ​a Journalist. I moved from TV to the Internet, but I was still just reporting the news.

I always looked at Bloggers as the people that sat on a computer in their Mom's basement and argued which was better Star Trek or Star Wars?​

I have never even seen Star Trek or Star Wars....any of them.​ So how could I be a Blogger?

FTVLive has reported that KRIV News Director Tom Doerr was headed to be the News Director at WFLD in Chicago. We pointed out that we thought Doerr was a good hire for the struggling Chicago Station.

We have first hand experience with Tom Doerr. Back way too many years to ​admit to, Doerr was my News Director.

He is also the first ND to ever suspend me.

It's time to open up the Gmail Email for another installment of "What's up with you Dude?"

Email #1- Scott, I logged on FTVLive this Weekend to catch up and I noticed there were stories posted that day. Are you posting of the Weekends as well?

Scott- 24/7 my man! Yesterday, was President's day and a number of TV Blogs took the day off or just mailed it in. FTVLive ended up having a record day for traffic to the website. We posted our first story around 5AM yesterday and posted again at 1AM early this morning. No Holidays, No Weekends...that's for Hacks.

FTVLive Sets Record at 8AM this Morning

Since FTVLive.com Re-Launched as a Free Site 2 weeks ago. Our visits to the site have increased each day. 

I was just checking out the stats and the hour from 8AM to 9AM this morning was the biggest hour we have had yet.

Here's a screen shot. The number of the left is Page Views the Number on the right is Unique Visitors (which means that no matter how many times you come to FTVLive in a day you are counted as 1). Remember these numbers are for just 1 hour this morning.
